#ROARientation2015 where QPav was filled with Thomasian students dancing to Shut Up And Dance With Me, where goosebumps arise the moment Yellow Jackets heavily beat gigantic drums and together with freshies, yelled Go USTe! Go USTe! Go, go, go, go, go USTe! while pointing an index finger to the air and rotating it counter-clockwise.

#TWW2015 is a traditional welcome of the university to the freshmen where they pass through the Arch Of The Centuries; legends say once you have passed through it, thou shall not pass through it again unless you are graduating and having the Baccalaureate mass or else, you will be debarred. Should I be scared because I went to and fro the arch due to adrenaline rush way before classes started… LOL.

There was also a welcome party hosted by the student council later that day of the welcome walk. I went with friends and blockmates but we didn’t finish it lol. I also finally met my dormmates and they’re really funny and nice! Official start of classes will be on Monday (tomorrow) but this week made me really feel na #TomasinoNaAko!

i. I am officially a Thomasian!! 🐯 It’s so difficult to find blockmates but I luckily found some through the Freshie group in FB! So far, I find myself enjoying my path because in the group with over 4,000+ freshmen, it feels like everyone have known each other for a really long time plus with older students welcoming us wholeheartedly and answering queries for us. I also finally met 2 online friends who’ll be studying in UST too!

ii. Celebrated my cousin’s graduation by having an overnight swim at a resort near our area. It was nice spending time with my second cousins again + college talks with my schoolmate slash cousin!

iii. Summer 2015 is another staycation for me so what I did the whole month is under a lazy routine of flicking through the television channels and wasting time searching for books to read.

iv. When I received my schedule my parents were finally convinced that I should not be a part of Team Commuters so I’m going to be living in a dorm for my whole college life. We visited the dorm last Sunday and well, I’m half scared and half excited for total independency!

i. spent my valentines day by watching That Thing Called Tadhana with Gia! The movie is the best I swear it made me laugh so hard with all the punch lines Angelica Panganiban and JM De Guzman are throwing at each other! (non-verbatim eg. JM: Ang bottomline, hindi ka na nya mahal.Angelica: T*ng*na close ba tayo? Ang sakit mo naman magsalita!” and when the credits started to roll my tears started to roll on my cheeks too because I didn’t want the movie to end it was just starting!

ii. when I didn’t pass upcat, I felt the world lay everything on my shoulder. I’m still sad whenever I think of it because UP is my dream school, although there’s recon, maybe God is telling me that UP is not just for me. And just when I thought I’m just going to sell sampaguita flowers in front of Quiapo, I found out I passed ustet! I was in Batangas for RSPC the day of the results, I texted my dad I didn’t win and he replied me with “pumasa ka ust” and in that moment I was the happiest journalist who just lost a contest!

iii. defense week this week! Ugggh it’s what every graduating student tries to run away from–thesis. I am so agitated because I don’t know how defense works and I am just so nervous!! I was actually glad for the Chinese New Year on Thursday because it means no classes and rest day for me but ta-da! they decided to move the honors’ thesis defense on that day. But still, it means more time to study and practice defending my research! I am crossing my fingers and hoping for no re-defense though.

iv. i’ve been reading Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood for 24 days already. Gahd, I am taking so long to finish this book because I’ve been hella busy and preoccupied with school! I think I can finish it this Saturday because I’ll be done with defense by then (hopefully) and I seriously just have to finish this. Murakami’s writing is astounding and it’s actually okay that I’m reading it too slowly because I get to absorb his words more. (a/n: earphones included because of The Beatles’ song with the same title as the book!)

1. My feels for UST have been so high ever since our Career Fest where the uni was endorsed to us and the moment I got there I was just unnghghgghh ang traffic! (half-joking) but really though, ancient renaissance style is so beautiful; UST is so photogenic!

2. It was just the entrance exams but I met a new friend from Pampanga! We took the exam in the same room of St. Raymund Building and it felt nice to know someone, she even added me on Facebook omg (and so I’m hoping we’ll pass and see each other around campus)

3. The time allotted for each subjects frustrated me because we only had 30 minutes for mental ability and 45 minutes each for English, Math and Science when our exam is from 2-6pm. Once again it is proven that time is gold, no matter how cliche it is.

4. Math was full of Geometry and Science was full of Biology. Geom is one of my Achilles’ heel but thank God I was able to answer though I do remember inwardly saying streams of “wtf is this” the whole Science test.

5. Personal limitations can indeed be very frustrating. Everyone was saying that ustet was the easiest entrance exam but I beg to differ. It was kinda easy, but was not the easiest. I don’t know if I will pass, it all depends on God now.
