One Friday evening my dad got home from work and told me to cook rice for dinner. Being the lazy but obedient daughter that I am, I did the chore albeit reluctantly. Syempre guys malungkot ako ganyan kasi puro utos nalang sakin sa bahay (haha ang drama ko talaga nung araw na yan) pero while I was doing the chore my dad asked, “Nak, san tayo gagala bukas?” and bes …marupok ako. Natuwa ako slight kasi ang tagal ko na sinasabi sa papa ko na umalis naman kami kasi nabubulok na ako sa bahay kasi bakasyon ko and I was only thinking of going to the mall LOL but my dad was thinking big. “Tara, Mt. Samat?” so voila, the next day we went to Bataan!

where we went

1. Mt. Samat - the elevator going all the way up the cross was closed so we only walked up until the top of the mountain :-( for a person who has fear of heights, this wasn’t a really scary trail haha

2. Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar - this place is soooo nice because it’s full of beautiful traditional houses! I heard this is where they shot the death scene in Heneral Luna. Anyway, it was super beautiful but we didn’t push through with the day tour because it’s suuuuper pricey huhu.

3. Dunsulan Falls - the entrance is super cheap (Php50) and it’s not crowded! We didn’t bring any extra clothes so we didn’t swim but we tried their tree hopping for only Php300 each. Again, for a person who has fear of heights, the tree hopping adventure was pretty scary but very enjoyable! You’ll feel accomplished after finishing their six activities!

Moshi moshi ola ola hello hello kamusta guys!! My last post on this blog was about Christmas 2016 and I suck, I know! So much has happened the last six months. One event that still has me #shookt is the war happening in Marawi right now (more of this at the end of the blog so if u wanna read pls do so!) Because I was not able to post anything on here, here’s a nutshell of some places I’ve been to for the first half of 2017:

Pansol, Laguna

I have a set of friends that don’t just draw their outings! Haha it was my first time to go to Pansol, not to mention also my first time to have an overnight swimming, and also my first time to have an overnight swimming with my blockmates. I can’t remember how much we paid for the resort rental but I know I spent less than Php 1,000 on it inclusive of the food! We were about 10 people in there so it was an affordable deal. I don’t really know how to swim (it’s a bummer, I know) so I spent most of the night singing my lungs out through karaoke and talking about anything until dawn.

Laiya, San Juan, Batangas

I went to Laiya with my family for the first time! Did I mention I don’t know how to swim? I like going to the beach but I can only swim where my feet can still touch the sand huhu. Laiya gives some of that Boracay feels but I wasn’t able to try their banana boat and jetski and kayaking and other fun stuff you want to do when you’re in the beach :( I remember watching Riverdale S01E10 and I also finished reading 13 Reasons Why on this day though haha

National Museum, Planetarium, Ocean Park

My bff from high school went to a uni in the South and she wanted to go to Manila so we did! It was my first time to go to Planetarium and during that time (this was on April, a few days before Holy Week) the admission was free! I had La La Land feels the moment I entered HUHU. We watched a show about planets where humans can possibly live and I forgot the title but it incorporated Goldilocks in it. It was really enjoyable and knowledge-filled but if you’re a person who is malula-in like me, you might feel like you’re gonna be swallowed alive while watching lol

And lastly! We were supposed to have two fieldworks for NSTP but you probably know about the suspension of activities outside the school premises so our fieldwork was reduced into one fieldwork only. To be honest, NSTP was a super hassle subject for me especially during my first term bUT when we had our fieldwork I swear I almost took my wordsback and I had felt so much positivity about life huhuhu I love the kids we encountered and I have ma boy Earnest, there on the left of the picture!! He is so full of energy (Gary V?!) and still so hopeful to achieve his dreams even though he has experienced some situations he shouldn’t have experienced at his age. I hope to see this kid where he wants to be someday.

Back to Marawi. I was in my dorm reviewing for my final exam. I was still shookt with the news of the Manchester bombing when my roommate barged in and told us about Marawi. Guys, my level of shookt was beyond the fear of failing an exam. I was in my dorm, frustrated over acads, while schools are being burned and innocent people are getting killed islands away from me. Reality was hitting me on the face. That was a month and 10 days ago. And now, the war is still not over. Children are starting to get sick, residents are starting to have mental health issues, people are still dying. During Independence Day, I remember seeing the news that government officials in Marawi couldn’t help but cry as they raise the Philippine flag in commemoration of the country’s freedom from years of slavery. Right after the flag was raised, the deafening sound of airstrike bomb ironically planted itself on the land of Marawi. I couldn’t help but keep my tears at bay at that emotional moment. I’m just hoping and praying that all of this will end now. And I hope that the residents of Marawi will not lose hope despite the situation making them think otherwise. God is in control. We will not be shaken by hate.

AND THAT GOES MY HANASH FOR THE MID-YEAR! I feel so bad for not updating huhu but really, most of the time I just study, sleep and watch vlogs, tv series and kdramas so I think this Tumblr is not missing out a lot haha!

We all know the backstory of the most wonderful time of the year but I can’t help but be reminded that the best gift you and I can ever receive came down 2,000 years ago. As a baby. But the story doesn’t stop there. Memory Lane, Tagaytay

Hey guys! I recently turned 18 and no, I did not have a fancy debut celebration but I did celebrate it with my family and was surprised by my high school friends! I’m still breathing in the fact that I am already in the age where #adulting starts and there is that inkling part in me that is super excited because I can already do this and do that but there is also another part in me that says to take things one step at a time, to be still and don’t stop depending on God.

Anyway, on the 31st of October my family and I went to Tagaytay to eat lunch. I’m from the South but I was still particularly surprised that it only took us like an hour and a half to get to Memory Lane. My mother suggested this restaurant which is a family business of Jolina Magdangal. I found this restaurant really cozy because it’s literally a house turned into a restaurant! It’s a small place and could not really accommodate that much people which I honestly lowkey like. There were vintage items plastered all over the place and because we went there on the day of Halloween, there were a bunch of spooky decorations too. I personally loved the vintage juke box, telephone and television set! The telly was still working and screening black and white ‘80s shows! The food tastes great but is kind of pricey but my parents were the ones who paid so who am I to complain about it lol.

After eating, we went to Skyranch (just to eat again huhu), Taal Vista, Good Shepherd (thought they only have this in Baguio but…), and stopped by Gourmet Farms (I’ve visited this before! See my Plant Tour post hehe) before going home.

Two days ago, I had one of the most spontaneous trips with my roommates. We went to The Yard on a school night because we can, haha! #thuglyf. But actually, we didn’t have morning classes due to the university-wide faculty meeting the next day which allowed us to do more than drown in sorrows because of acads lol. Yes, the food is a bit pricey (it’s around P200 per food) but it’s worth your money!! I forgot the names of the restaurant where I bought my food but I had chicken steak and shared nachos and a raspberry mint drink with my roommies. As the night stretched on, we all brought home (or dorm, rather) a satisfied stomach and a pocketful of laughter and memories :-)

I am five days late of posting from the concert day but I had a major post-concert depression the next day of the event so everything is still pretty clear to me. I only had three hours of sleep the day after but I literally cannot stop talking to anyone about the concert even if they don’t care and until now I still song some of the songs performed in the concert. Help me.

I had a lot of firsts attending this concert. I’ve been going to concerts alone but this time I went together with my two blockmates and it was a lot more fun than I expected! Also, I can definitely say I have attended the most sulit concert so far because the music festival lasted for 7 hours! 7 hours, WHAT! And we were late because I didn’t want to cut class lol but everything was worth it! And finally it’s my first time to see the bands that performed which I am so so so so so happy about because I love all of their music!

My class ended at 5:30PM and we missed Twin Pines and Elle King which was unfortunate because I at least wanted to see all the performers in the list but kids, don’t cut class. No one was performing by the time we arrived at around 10 minutes before 7PM.

Third Eye Blind started to perform and I’m not particularly fond of the band so I searched their music a few days before the concert and I actually really liked their new song! And even though they performed some songs that I weren’t familiar with, I found their music really good and easy to listen to.

Panic! at the Disco performed after Third Eye Blind and can I just say that Brendon Urie has reaaaallllyy good vocals? I am super duper impressed with his vocal range! I was surprised that they performed their old songs (My blockmate mentioned to me one time that Brendon already doesn’t want to perform this certain old song but he still performed it last Thursday ha). I’ve known of the band since I was in elementary when I saw their music video of That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) and I still like their music up until today.

Their performance of Bohemian Rhapsody is just TOO. GOOD. I cannot. That is just the simplest adjective I can come up with. (I just cropped the photo from the LED screen forgive me for the ad quality haha)

Next was James Bay’s performance WHICH WAS SO CHILL AAAAHHHH (but not really chill because, you get me!!). I love his voice so much and he changes his guitar every time he changes songs?? He actually looks really good in real life and I could really see how talented he is.

By the time it’s almost already 11:30PM, the band that I’ve been waiting for has finally gone up the stage to perform!! Of course, it’s The 1975! They are actually the reason why I really pushed to go to the concert because I really love them?? No other words to describe it but I appreciate their music so much, their albums have been my jam since last year. And it’s super duper sulit because they performed A LOT of songs from both their recent and first album!! Matty was being a real badass at this one song where he smoked a cigarette while singing and I guess that’s just what he really does during their concerts.

Ok I just, I really loved their performances AND NOT TO MENTION THEIR CONCERT STAGE. It was a huge mark off my bucketlist to see The 1975 and their stage. Because it’s pure aesthetic. Actually I can’t tell what my favorite performance is because I ABSOLUTELY loved each and every song! :( I can’t pick so I won’t haha.

I was really looking forward to their performance of If I Believe You which certainly did not disappoint! AND WHEN THEY PERFORMED ROBBERS. OMG. Ma hart. Ma sole. fallingforyou was an emotional performance because Matty was so into it, he knelt down and someone said he cried? I’m not sure though since I was too far from the stage. In total they performed 16 songs!! WHICH IS SUPER SULIT NA DIBA

I want to tell you so much more but I guess I would just be writing in scary capital letters and exlamation points so I’m just going to leave you with a messy playlist of some of the songs played in the concert. If you guys also went to the concert let’s talk about it some time!! And for those who didn’t, I hope you at least get the feel of the concert through the playlist :) I actually have some videos of P!ATD, James Bay, and The 1975’s performances but I don’t think I can share it since most of them are just filled with my singing LOL.

ONE CONFERENCE 2016

Last Saturday, July 30, I attended a conference that empowered me. You ever get that ache in your chest–the good kind of ache–when you feel so overwhelmed? I did. I was so overwhelmed to worship God and to know that He has a lot of breakthroughs coming for me and for the campus, for you! He has prepared amazing plans for me and you! So why are you okay in dealing with your pain alone? Why are you content with just a grade of tres when you can have an uno? Why are you satisfied with the temporary happiness of lust when you are worth so much more? Don’t settle for less just because you think that’s all you can get in life. God has so much in store for you and He is not yet done with you! He is working in your life and you may not be feeling it for over a month now, a year, or even your whole life, but why don’t you talk to Him? Why don’t you tell Him about your struggles and addictions, about your achievements and things that made you smile today, or about the boy who’s been running in your mind? Why don’t you ask Him the questions you’ve been trying to find the answers to for quite a while now? Because God has been knocking your heart all this time, waiting for you to experience His love that will change your life.

The Artidote has mentioned Elon Musk said that “If something is important enough, even if the odds are against you, you should still do it.” Choosing to accept Jesus in my life is the best decision I’ve made. I get to experience His love everyday that I wouldn’t get from anyone or anything and I want you to also feel it, to experience Jesus, to understand that Someone died for you because He loves you and only wants what is best for you. Because it’s not just your once in a lifetime privilege, it’s your right.

Hi! My older entries have varied photo sizes so they may come off as blurry but recently I make sure my photos are 1280px wide :) Maybe if you could elaborate the problem more, I might be able to help you! It would be easier to go off anon so I would be able to explain better but I think your problem has something to do with the post width and the photo size you have in the layout code?

15 days from now, I’m officially going to be a sophomore college student and I know that I wasn’t really able to update anything about my acads during my first year because I was too busy adapting that blogging became the last thing on my priority list. I also lost a gadget just a night before Paskuhan (sucks, right) so I didn’t have the opportunity to take any pictures for the whole second sem. Microbiology and Parasitology (MCR-PRS) was one of my courses last sem and I super duper enjoyed the whole lab experience although it was really tiring and I admit there were a lot of times that I felt down because I kept flunking exams and performance tasks.

The third photo was taken by my blockmate Pau and I used my groupmate Angela’s iTouch to capture the other photos so I give credits to them! Keep reading to know the stories behind them:

i. The specimen looks really beautiful isn’t it? It looks like a vintage wallpaper, but it’s actually bacteria from the armpit of a person who-shall-not-be-named!

ii. We performed antibiotic susceptibility test and the one in the photo is poorly done yet this was one of my most favorite activities because I was amazed with how it’s done and how the results are perceived. The bacteria that we used is the one in the last photo :)

iii. They all look so colorful but don’t drink it because it’s actually agar! You use these to help grow the bacteria you want to observe. We did biochemical tests using these colorful agars to know some of the characteristics of the bacteria.

iv. The last photo is definitely my favorite experiment that we did. Because I will become a future food technologist, it is very crucial to achieve food safety. We performed a bacterial count in food products. My professor made us choose one streetfood and my group chose calamares. We were able to count a significant number of 46 colonies in the third plate with a dilution of 10^-3, amounting to 46,000 bacterial count. The group that obtained the highest number of colonies was the one who picked the fish ball sauce and I couldn’t remember the exact number but their plate was really dirty just after a day of incubating. After this experiment I really became more cautious on eating streetfood. My courses really influenced me with how I eat. This photo was taken after a day of incubating in the incubator and I think 3 days after storing it in our locker lol.

LISTENING to Beauty for Ashes by Mid-Cities Worship! This is my current favorite praise and worship song. The song is so beautiful because it reminds me of how much God loves me that He gives me beauty for ashes and that He continues to pull me close to His heart despite all my shortcomings in life. It actually amazes me that He even does this! He’s full of power and I’m full of sins but He still wants me to have a relationship with Him.

THINKING about cute restaurants here in the South where I could eat in and blog about. I’ve been thinking about this a lot!

HOPING that my scholarship application for this certain foundation will be accepted. It was such an answered prayer when a professor endorsed me for a scholarship (in an unexpected time, too!) but I haven’t heard any news regarding the results. This is actually what’s been troubling me because I feel like I’ve not been accepted because I do not meet the income requirement but my prof said to just push through and take the chance. I’m hoping.

LOVING the end-of-season sale happening in a bunch of stores this month!! I got to score a pair of Topshop jeans for almost a 50% discount hehe

WANTING to buy more clothes and novels (my last book haul was last year) and actually start exploring the world of make up ?? I’ve been getting into the girly stuff lately (this life phase occurred a bit too late actually, I’ll be an adult in a few months!) and I have to admit that I feel good when I look good (or presentable hehe) and not for others but for myself.

NEEDING a back-to-school haul. I need to buy stuff for dorm too!

First you jump, then you fall

First I was afraid, I was petrified. Char. Not really. When I found out that the jumping is only for an hour I was actually kinda sad because, really? 1 hour for a good amount of money? but when I stepped inside the park and started to jump, I found myself already gasping for air only to realize that it has only been 5 minutes since I entered. Wew. 1 hour is going to be a looong time.

Before you get to enter the jumping area, there will be a short video orientation on the do’s and dont’s inside the park. The wristbands are color-coordinated according to your respected jumping time so only a number of people are allowed inside per hour. The Trampoline Park also prohibits the use of your own socks maybe because of safety reasons so you’ll have to buy from them. I think a pair costs Php80.

There are a lot of activities you can do inside such as basketball and volleyball but with a twist of course since you have to jump! I was honestly mentally applauding the kids who were also inside the jumping area because they were executing back flips and other crazy stunts I’m too tita to do.

You can also host a party at The Trampoline Park! There’s a space at the second floor for that and someone was celebrating his or her birthday there when we were jumping so I wasn’t able to go upstairs to inhale the full view of the park.

I was being swallowed by the foam pit by the time the staff announced that we only have 5 minutes left before our jumping time is up. I can say that my Trampoline Park experience was really tiring but super duper fun! Tip for anyone who wants to lose weight: you must definitely try trampoline jumping!

After an hour, we went to McDo and met with another cousin and his girlfriend. There, we did our normal cousin bonding and played board games! He introduced us to a new board game called The Battle Sheep and Love Letter: The Adventure Time edition.

Thank you to whoever asked me this and I’m sorry I’m turning my answer into a blog post!

It’s the year of debuts for the 1998 kids and I’ve attended two debuts in less than a month; hence the two mason jars. Besides that and the occasional giving in to the shopping temptation, I got nothing special keeping me busy for my (rainy) summer vacation.

1. I watch Game of Thrones every Monday! I was finally able to catch up with season 6 last month and now I just watch the show on HBO. I love this series so much, I shed real tears of sadness, pride and joy on the latest episode and I can’t wait for the finale next week!!

2. I’m having a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie marathon! Whenever a superhero movie is airing on telly, I’d watch for a while but after a minute or so, I would switch to another channel because I don’t really like superhero movies. Oops. But I’m glad I finally gave Marvel a chance because I absolutely love it!! I actually regret not making this decision a long time ago! I’m on #TeamIronMan huhu although I already know what happened in Civil War.

3. I’m back on reading novels! I read Me Before You the second week of June. I have some things to say about the book and I’m planning to make a separate post about it! I’ve also started on Legend by Marie Lu but it’s on hold because I really cannot focus on the words; seems like my brain is not wired for dystopian yet so I’m reading Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson.

I haven’t been blogging a lot now too because college is really dragging me down lol. I guess you just really have to find the time and desire to do it! Nobody told me that college field trips are waaay better than the ones in high school. This is so far the best tour I’ve head despite going to my area, which is the south, albeit not in my hometown. The two days and one night trip was enough for the block to make new friends with the higher years and create new memories!

We first went to Gardenia in Liip, Laguna then in the Lucky Me factory but taking of photos is prohibited so here are some shots I took alongside a lot of block photos lol

I’ve already went to the food plants we visited when I was in elementary but the difference between then and now is my interest with what is really happening inside because it’s now my line of specialization. And this is one of those small “naks nagmamature na yata ako!” ephiphanies lmao

We stayed at Shercon Resort in Batangas and the place was so nice!! The staff had a lot of cabins and hotels prepared for us and our room was overlooking Taal Lake and it’s just too beautiful and refreshing that I didn’t want to leave :-(

There were ziplines, rapelling, mountain climbing and team building activities for us which really gave us an opportunity to be friends with the higher years because we were not grouped according to batch.

But my favorite activity would be the human maze because bruh it’s a human maze!!!

And one of the best moments was when the FT community had a bonfire and smores

The next day we went to Yoki’s Farm in Tagaytay where they had a bunch of antiques (I wasn’t able to take a shot of their old typewriters because I didn’t tour the whole place *regret*) then we went to Gourmet Farms in Silang where they have the. Best. Lettuce. Chips. Ever. (and salad dressings! They were even growing rosemary omg)

It was an overall great trip, I could say.

Ballad was not playing in the background. Actually, they were performing a remix of Overdose but my heart wanted to jump out of my chest to free fall into the main stage when I felt the sudden urge to cry so hard (and cry I did gdi they were performing something upbeat and I was crying ??). Probably because after stanning them since pre-debut 4 years ago, I only got to see them perform live this year; and I think seeing them in personal made me realize that they’re real! They’re actually real and I’m not sitting in front of my laptop and waiting for updates but I’m inside the arena with all these other fans swimming in an ocean of silver (which is also one of my fangirl goals by the way), screaming our lungs out and witnessing these boys dance and sing.
